Microsoft’s biggest cross-platform story is the shift from AI assistants that answer questions toward agents that build applications, use business context, and perform governed actions. Ahead of this week’s Power Platform Community Conference, Microsoft is highlighting Dataverse and Work IQ previews connecting Dynamics 365, Power Apps, and Copilot Studio. SharePoint’s Copilot rollout expands content management and Teams-connected automation, while GitHub’s Copilot policy enforcement reaches the end of its rollout window today. Other priorities include Windows lifecycle changes, SQL Server maintenance, and new Xbox releases. Today’s financial coverage also highlights strong Azure and Microsoft 365 demand ahead of Microsoft’s scheduled October 28 earnings announcement
Business applications, collaboration, and automation
- SharePoint Online — October’s Copilot updates cover PDF organization, HTML publishing, image creation and editing, business-system connections, and content analytics. General-availability rollout began September 30, so these are ongoing deployment developments rather than a new launch today
- Power Automate and Teams — SharePoint Copilot can help create workflows that notify Teams chats or channels when files or metadata change, including adaptive cards with selected metadata and formatting. This brings conversational workflow creation closer to everyday collaboration without requiring users to manually assemble the underlying flow.
- Power Apps — Microsoft’s October 23 announcement highlights public-preview Business Skills authoring in the maker portal, including agent-assisted editing, version history, and security controls. Separately, September’s update made the model app-builder skill generally available for building and editing model-driven apps from natural-language requirements.
- Power BI — The October 15 feature summary highlights improvements across Copilot and AI, reporting, and semantic models—the data structures behind reports. This is the latest monthly product update identified, not a separate October 26 release.
