Apple’s dominant story today is the launch of the new Apple Upgrade leasing program, plus a critical round of security updates across the entire ecosystem. The company released iOS 26.6 / iPadOS 26.6 / macOS Tahoe 26.6 / tvOS 26.6 / visionOS 26.6 on July 27 to patch 80-130+ vulnerabilities. This comes after last week’s Apple Music and iCloud+ price hikes.
- Apple – New Leasing Model: Apple and Klarna are launching Apple Upgrade in the U.S. on Tuesday, July 28, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. It replaces new enrollments in the iPhone Upgrade Program.
- iPhone / iPad / Mac / MacBook / Apple Watch – Apple Upgrade Terms: Program covers most iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch models, with 24-month terms for iPhones and Apple Watches and 36-month terms for iPads and Macs. You can upgrade after 12 payments or keep/return the device.
- iPhone / iPad / Mac – Critical Security Update: iOS 26.6 and iPadOS 26.6 released July 27 address almost 90 security vulnerabilities affecting App Store, Neural Engine, kernel, WebKit, Wi-Fi, Siri, and image processing. macOS Tahoe 26.6 has more than 130 fixes.
- Apple Watch / Apple TV / Vision Pro – Same Patch Wave: tvOS 26.6 was released for Apple TV 4K on July 27, and visionOS 26.6 was released the same day. Apple says watchOS 26.6, tvOS 26.6, and visionOS 26.6 have over 80 security fixes.

- iCloud / Apple Music / App Store – Price Changes: Apple Music Individual rose to $11.99/month and Family to $19.99/month on July 17 due to licensing costs. Apple One Family increased to $27.95 and Premier to $39.95. iCloud+ prices also increased 11-55% in 8 countries including Japan, New Zealand, Vietnam.
- Handoff / AirDrop / iCloud – Security Context: Handoff and AirDrop fixes are part of the broader iOS 26.6 / macOS Tahoe 26.6 security patches. Apple also patched a Hide My Email flaw in iCloud that had exposed real email addresses since June 2025.
